Protecting critical habitat for salmon and moose through restoration, trail maintenance, supporting anadromous stream crossings, and habitat augmentation

The Habitat and Trails Program helps establish and maintain multi-use trails, supports habitat augmentation projects for key wildlife species, and encourages robust forest management practices. Our work brings together private landowners, state, Federal, and nongovernmental stakeholders to inform practices and enact long-term ecosystem-wide solutions.

We recognize salmon and moose as critical to Homer’s landscape. The more we observe salmon dependence on peatlands and moose dependence on beavers, the more we realize how critical healthy lands are to their survival.
